    What To Know

    • Tom Welling accidentally posted a revealing NSFW photo on his Instagram Stories.
    • The incident occurred while Welling was in New York City for New York Comic Con, where he later participated in a “Smallville” panel.
    • Welling, best known for his role as Clark Kent on “Smallville,” has not publicly addressed the mishap.

Smallville actor Tom Welling accidentally posted a NSFW photo of himself on his Instagram Stories that had fans doing a double-take — and caused his name to start trending online.

On Friday, October 9, Welling, 49, posted a snapshot of his view from what appeared to be a New York City hotel. He was in town for New York Comic Con over the weekend.

“Hello NYCC,” the former Clark Kent star captioned the Instagram Stories update, which showed off skyscrapers, the streets below, and a bright blue sky.

Unfortunately, the reflection in the window revealed more of Welling than he likely bargained for. It quickly became apparent that Welling snapped the photo while wearing no clothes.

Soon, “Tom Welling” started trending on X and Google Trends — although the picture was eventually deleted.

Welling has not addressed the snafu, as of writing. TV Insider reached out to his rep for comment, but did not immediately hear back.

On October 10, Welling participated in an NYCC panel titled “The Road to Superman: 25 Years of Smallville” alongside Michael Rosenbaum, Kristin Kreuk, and Erica Durance.

Rosenbaum posted a video clip on Instagram of the actors smiling with fans in the background. “Wow. What a treat,” he captioned the update. “@newyorkcomiccon with my pals. @durance.erica @mskristinlkreuk @tomwelling #smallville.”

Smallville aired for 10 seasons (first on The WB and then on The CW) from 2001 to 2011. In addition to Welling, Kreuk, and Curance, the series featured Allison Mack, Annette O’Toole, and John Schneider, among others.

Welling is also known for his roles in films like Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), The Fog (2005), Draft Day (2014), The Choice (2016), as well as TV shows such as Lucifer, Professionals, and The Winchesters.

Smallville, streaming on Disney+ and Hulu
