The Ark Season 3 Episode 5 Saves Brice But Puts the Fate of Another on the Line

The Ark Season 3 Episode 5 Saves Brice But Puts the Fate of Another on the Line

    Critic’s Rating: 4.2 / 5.0

    4.2

From the very beginning, Eva has refused to believe that Brice is dead on The Ark Season 3.

Finally, people have been willing to listen to her. Of course, this time she had enough to back up her theories.

As a small team headed back to Ross-128, Felix found himself in the firing line. How long will it take for someone to realize that Ves is up to something bad?

She’s certainly targeted the wrong person. Ark One is a family, and Zed knows his family well.

    Saving Brice Raises Multiple Questions

With so few episodes to a season, I’m glad that The Ark Season 3 didn’t wait too long to send Ark One back to Ross-128.

Being there raises so many more questions, though.

Somehow, Brice was dragged to an underground bunker. Somehow, that bunker is a lot like the one on Homebase-1.

Is it possible that the same people made it to both planets? That’s the way it seems, and it opens up so many possibilities within the storytelling.

I’m excited to see how the show goes, as so far all my expectations and theories have been wrong.

I was sure Brice was in some sort of simulation, expecting him to be stuck in that until he finally completed whatever he was supposed to.

If it wasn’t for knowing that Sharon and Eva were going to save him and for them getting back to Homebase-1, I would assume that Brice was hallucinating everything.

However, I’m assuming that the simulation that he was in during The Ark Season 3 Episode 4 was based on his memories or experiences.

Being in the Ark Four rubble with Doc made sense. He knew he and Doc were likely the only ones left on Ark One because he died to get everyone else off Ross.

The idea of raiders coming after him also made sense. He’d been through experiences of soldiers trying to kill him, so it helped to add a time limit and threat as he tried to fix the comms.

Putting the worm-like creatures in his head as a simulation wouldn’t make much sense.

Plus, he’s still seeing Doc. There is clearly still something that he needs to do, and I’m sure we’ll see Doc return throughout more episodes to remind him.

Part of me does question whether there’s too much going on throughout The Ark Season 3 right now, but I’m intrigued.

I did get Doc’s final words wrong in the previous review. She didn’t say “save” but “fix.”

Brice has to “fix me,” and I think this is a huge hint as to why those worm-like creatures took and healed him (even returning his appendix!) and nobody else from Ark Four or Doc.

He can fix something within the computers.

Will he need to return? Possibly not if that planet’s system is connected to the underground bunker on Homebase-1.

I can’t even begin to theorize where all of this is going to go!

    Ves Picked the Wrong Person

Meanwhile, more people are growing suspicious of Ves.

Up to this point, Felix hasn’t been the smartest person on Homebase-1, and it did frustrate me a little.

After Sharon and Alicia returned, it seemed like Felix had remembered who he is — he remembered how on the ball he can be.

So, when Hammond’s body is found, it only makes sense that Felix is the one to look into it, and finally, he does some digging.

I was disappointed when Hammond was written out so abruptly, but at least Felix looked into what he was searching for before his death.

And fortunately, Felix told Alicia all of this after confronting Ves. He didn’t make the same mistake Hammond did.

This is where Ves makes her biggest mistake yet. To deal with him, she decides to frame him for Hammond’s murder.

Look, Felix would kill if he needs to, but it’s only been in self-defense or to protect his family.

He doesn’t kill in cold blood, and people have known the actions he’s taken. This isn’t a man to secretly go out and do something so terrible.

The Ark One crew would never believe that Felix would do something like this, and I’m glad that there was no time spent wondering if Zed believed him or not.

That was answered before the closing credits. Zed knows Felix well enough to know that he’s innocent.

I think there was a look in his eyes while he and Ves questioned him that told us he knows Ves is up to something.

Ves was quick to suggest that people hadn’t gone searching for Kelly and Angus, and she made Milan the sheriff without giving Zed all the information needed to make a full decision.

The Eastern Federation leader can always read between the lines, and he can sniff out a snake a mile off.

However, he needs to tread carefully. They all do at this point.

This is The Ark’s storyline that I can theorize, as I’m sure we’ll see a small group of people — Zed, Alicia, and Kelly — gathering together to get proof that Ves isn’t who she claims to be.

There’s sure to be something that comes out now that Milan is dead (that arc was a bit of a waste), and I’m ready to see Ves lose her authority.

However, it’s sure to get worse before it gets better. We’re not even at the halfway point of the season yet!

All I will say at this point is “bring it!”

Now we turn it over to you!
We love to hear what you have to say about each episode. Do you have theories about the underground bunkers or about Ves’ intentions? Drop a comment below, and let’s get this conversation flowing!
