Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark Believes 6G Wireless Technology Will be Widely Available by 2030

Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark, speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, stated that he believes 6G wireless technology will be widely available by 2030. Why? By that time, smartphones will not be the most common interface, as he thinks “many of these things will be built directly into our bodies,” thus turning humans into cyborgs of sorts.

Within this decade, Lundmark imagines that there will be a digital twin of everything, resulting in the need for huge computational resources. Apparently, these digital twin models are very importance since they allow us to analyze what’s happening in the physical world, simulate possible outcomes, anticipate needs and then take productive actions back in the real world. This means that their Nokia 5310 XpressMusic candy bar-style phone is going to need a refresh to handle 6G connectivity.
