Celebrated Chicago singer Irene Michaels made a sensational debut at the trendy hot spot Chelsea Table & Stage in the heart Of New York City with a smashing array of nostalgic jewels performed in an impressive, confident and chic style. Accompanied by stand-up bass and piano the dynamic Beauty Queen knew her way around the stage and developed an intimate relationship with the audience almost immediately.
Although society often places a disproportionate emphasis on attaining certain milestones at a young age, success is possible at any age of life, proven over and over again by the 78 year old Caberet/ House singer Irene Michaels. Age brings with it unique insights associated with our life experiences which can lead to empowerment and innovative ideas. Irene is resilient and more committed to her goals. Irene spoke about her age in cute comical stories, however, she is proof positive that that people can do what they dream of at any time in their lives…..Age does not present a barrier for Irene but rather proof that no star is ever lost once seen. In the words of Sophia Loren, “There is a fountain of youth: It is your mind and your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of the people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age.”
Dressed in black sparkles, Irene preformed standards including “A Lot of Living to Do”, “Embraceable You”, “Mr. Bojangles”, and other favorites. She concluded her show with her new hit single “What The World Needs Now Is Love” the cover made famous by superstar Jackie DeShannon that was written by Hal David and Burt Bacharach. Although the starlight is well known in her native Chicago land, her New York audience included icon songwriter Desmond Child and Queen of House Music Rachael Cain. Her own legendary husband famous concert promoter and 9x Tony winner Arny Granat was also there to cheer her on.
Congratulations Irene Michaels for an outstanding performance and a fun and entertaining evening. I look forward to seeing you again on the streets of New York singing your jazzy, bluesy, and beautiful songs.
