      Kevin Norwood Bacon is certainly no stranger to the horror genre –– he’s been popping up in them since 1980’s ‘Friday the 13th.’

    So news of another venture into the genre should be no surprise, with The Hollywood Reporter bringing word that he’ll star in a new thriller called ‘Summoner.’

    The movie will mark the directing debut of Jeremy Slater, a screenwriter whose credits include the likes of ‘Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire,’‘Mortal Kombat II’ and Marvel’s ‘Moon Knight.’

    What’s the story of ‘Summoner’?

    ‘Summoner,’ which Slater also wrote, follows an exorcist names Jefferson Haddock (Bacon), who is called into an isolated witness protection property to deal with a terrifying demon, accidentally unleashing a force that threatens to end him and everything around him.

    Bacon and wife Kyra Sedgwick recently directed and starred in the horror-comedy project ‘Family Movie’ alongside their children, Travis Bacon and Sosie Bacon.

    He’s also aboard rom-com ‘Beach Read,’ and new Hulu crime thriller series ‘Southern Bastards.’
