It might not have hit the heights of, say, ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ but Netflix‘s dark comedy fake assassin thriller ‘Hit Man’ helped boost rising star Glen Powell’s profile, especially since he co-wrote it alongside director Richard Linklater.
Netflix is looking to keep the ‘Hit’ party going, with Deadline reporting that the streaming service is developing a TV series based on the movie.
“He’s not a killer, but he can pretend.”

Budget: $8,800,000
There is now word yet on whether Powell will return to star (he does have recent TV experience via Hulu’s football comedy ‘Chad Powers’), but both he and Linklater are involved as executive producers.

What’s the story of the ‘Hit Man’ TV series?

We don’t yet know the official logline for the show yet, but the movie saw Powell as Gary Johnson, an unassuming police contractor — in that case a college professor — who uses elaborate disguises and develops different characters to pose as a fake hitman and expose suspects looking to get someone killed.
Stephen Falk, who created comedy series ‘You’re the Worst,’ is aboard to write the initial script and run the show.

Powell was most recently seen in indie comedy thriller ‘How to Make a Killing’ and as the voice of Fox McCloud in ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.’
Coming up, he has worked on a second season of ‘Chad Powers,’ shot a role in J.J. Abrams’ latest mystery movie ‘The Great Beyond’ and is at work on ‘The Comeback King’ a new Judd Apatow movie set in the world of Country & Western singers.
