Deadline brings word that the pair is looking to reunite for a new baseball-focused project, this time a yet-to-be-titled biopic of sporting legend Lou Gehrig.

Universal is backing the new effort, with ‘Saturday Night Live’ veteran Lorne Michaels involved as a producer.

What will the new Lou Gehrig movie cover?

That’s the big question at this point; no one involved with the movie is specifying yet. We do know that Simon Rich (‘An American Pickle’) wrote the script.

According to Deadline’s sources, the focus could be on Gehrig’s extraordinary baseball career. The seven-time All-Star played in a record 2,130 consecutive games, a mark that was thought to be unreachable until Baltimore’s Cal Ripken topped it in 1998.

As a first baseman, he played his entire 17-year career with the Yankees, winning six World Series titles including on the 1927 Yankees team many believe to be the greatest ever assembled.

He won the Triple Crown in 1934, hitting .363, with 49 home runs and 166 RBIs before his career was curtailed following a diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), the disease that would be named for him.

What else is Glen Powell working on?

We might have to wait for this one, as Powell has said he wants to take a break after working non-stop for a while. He’ll be seen in the second season of football comedy ‘Chad Powers’ and has upcoming movies including Judd Apatow’s ‘The Comeback King’ and J.J. Abrams‘The Great Beyond,’ which recently shifted its release date to 2027.
