A classic Moe story from The Simpsons is revisited in a new cosplay. Lonesome bartender Moe is voiced by Hank Azaria and has been a mainstay of the series across 35 seasons as a confidant, friend, and sometimes romantic rival. In season 7’s “Bart Sells His Soul,” Moe attempted to rebrand his struggling tavern into a family-friendly restaurant that temporarily proved successful, but relied on him managing to keep a happy face through stressful times.
While The Simpsons season 35 is ongoing, @kassiebee has revisited the classic story with a recent cosplay shared on her Instagram account. Check it out below:
The cosplayer has faithfully recreated the bright uniform that Moe adopted after rebranding his tavern into Uncle Moe’s Family Feedbag, complete with a red striped shirt, blue bowtie, and suspenders. She also recreated the “Million Dollar Birthday Fries” hat, complete with sparklers.
Is Moe Doomed To Never Find Happiness?
Across The Simpsons‘ history, Moe has made many attempts to turn his failing bar into a successful business. However, even when he manages to turn a profit, these ventures have tended to cause trouble. While changes like Flaming Moe’s, The Nag and Weasel, M’s, and Mo’s saw the bartender successfully pivot towards new types of businesses, they have seen him either alienate his regulars, turn on his friends, or pose as someone he isn’t. As such, Moe often returns to the status quo, leaving him with further failure.
Despite these failures, Moe may not be the unluckiest loner in Springfield anymore, as not only does he have lifelong friends, but lasting love may be in the air for the bartender. In The Simpsons season 20, the bartender met Maya, though at the time their brief romance fizzled out due to Moe’s own misconceptions. However, the pair would reunite in season 33 and become engaged to be married after reconciling, potentially marking a rare major development for the series that changes Moe’s long-lasting status quo.
Moe’s side-story is a fun example of a formula that The Simpsons would revisit many times. As one of the series’ most memorable characters, Moe has received many reinventions in his quest to turn his humble business from a dingy dive bar into a thriving business. The above costume is a faithful recreation of the character’s onetime uniform that is a perfect throwback to the series’ earlier days.

The Simpsons
The Simpsons is a long-running animated TV series created by Matt Groening that satirically follows a working-class family in the misfit city of Springfield. Homer, a bit of a schmoe who works at a nuclear power plant, is the provider for his family, while his wife, Marge, tries to keep sanity and reason in the house to the best of her ability. Bart is a born troublemaker, and Lisa is his super-intelligent sister who finds herself surrounded by people who can’t understand her. Finally, Maggie is the mysterious baby who acts as a deus ex machina when the series calls for it. The show puts the family in several wild situations while constantly tackling socio-political and pop-culture topics set within their world, providing an often sharp critique of the subjects covered in each episode. This series first premiered in 1989 and has been a staple of Fox’s programming schedule ever since.
