Good Omens‘ Crowley and Aziraphale take flight together in a moment of angelic bliss in beautiful new art set in the early days of creation. David Tennant and Michael Sheen first starred in Prime Video’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 fantasy novel in 2019, playing a demon and an angel who came together to avert the apocalypse. Good Omens season 2 introduced an all-new story, where Aziraphale and Crowley must grapple with tangled love lives, amnesiac angles, and the cataclysmic tensions between Heaven and Hell once more.
Though Good Omens season 2 ended with the unexpected break-up between Aziraphale and Crowley, @hansoeii has created a throwback to the duo’s earlier days, depicting a sweeter moment between the angel and demon. Check it out below:
In the artwork, Crowley and Aziraphale are dressed in their white angelic robes and surrounded by the blossoming cosmos created by the former, holding each other close with their wings spread in flight. The artist also shared a quote from the early moments of Good Omens season 2 that perfectly fits with the stunning piece.
Good Omens Season 2’s Couple Reveal Was Both Long-Awaited & Shocking
For many Good Omens viewers, season 2’s reveal of the true nature of Aziraphale and Crowley‘s relationship confirmed what many had speculated for some time. While the “Ineffable Husbands” had been a popular pairing within the fandom, the original novel left much of the details surrounding their bond to subtext and theorizing. As such, the moment they kissed in the Good Omens season 2 finale resulted in much celebration.
Aziraphale and Crowley’s romantic feelings were finally brought to the surface after they helped reunite Gabriel (Jon Hamm) and Beelzebub (Shelley Conn), and saw parallels with their own relationship. However, with the Metatron (Derek Jacobi) offering Aziraphale a new key role in Heaven, it quickly became clear that the pair had reached an impasse. Like their first meeting, Aziraphale had complete faith in the Almighty’s plan while Crowley continued to question things, so while they acted on their feelings, they still went their separate ways.
While Good Omens‘ season 3 chances remain in flux, the spectacular above artwork is sure to be embraced. Not only does it pull inspiration from a fan-favorite moment from season 2’s opening, but the piece also imagines what could have been had Aziraphale and Crowley been open from their first meeting. Nevertheless, while Crowley and Aziraphale may currently be on opposing sides once more, Good Omens‘ future could look more like the cosmic art.
