Summary
- Jesse Lee Soffer returns to
Chicago PD
— not as Halstead but as a director. - His potential appearance as Halstead, however, could signal a reconciliation with Tracy Spiridakos’ Upton ahead of her exit.
- Halstead’s help may be needed by Voight’s Intelligence to crack a mysterious case in the upcoming season.
Jesse Lee Soffer is finally spotted on the set of Chicago PD season 11. As a member of the pioneering team of Hank Voight’s Intelligence Unit, losing Jay Halstead in Chicago PD season 10 was a massive blow to the team. The squad had no choice but to move on from his departure despite the abruptness of it, but his absence remains palpable in the series, particularly because of his ties to Tracy Spiridakos’ Hailey Upton. Now, however, the actor is back to partake in the hit NBC series.
As shared by Marina Squerciati on her official Instagram page, Soffer is seen with Chicago PD season 11 stars Benjamin Levy Aguilar and Patrick Flueger. Check out the image below:
It’s uncertain what episode they are currently working on, but as noted by Squerciati, Soffer is back as a director and not Halstead. Nonetheless, they are thrilled to work with him again in Chicago PD.
What Soffer’s Potential Halstead Return Mean For Chicago PD Season 11?
NBC Can Make Up For Halstead’s Disappointing Chicago PD Exit
Soffer himself announced his Chicago PD season 11 return through a different image. That said, the photo he used doesn’t actually show him on the set. Instead, it’s a snap of his off-screen role, which is a prepping director. This marks the actor’s second comeback to One Chicago since leaving more than a year ago. The franchise has done its fair share of farewell episodes, but Halstead’s exit was rushed, making it a disappointment. This makes the idea of his return to Chicago PD so much more exciting since it allows NBC to fix that problem.
Assuming that Soffer’s involvement results in Chicago PD season 11 appearance from Halstead, it’s safe to say that it will have something to do with Upton’s upcoming departure from Intelligence, which was confirmed before the procedural’s ongoing year started. The pair had just gotten married when Halstead decided to leave Chicago and return to his military roots by partaking in an operation in Bolivia. His deployment was only meant to be for eight months, but it has been longer than that. They are on the verge of separation and his comeback could signal their reconciliation.
My Dream Of Halstead’s Chicago P.D. Return Is A Lot Closer To Reality After Exciting Season 11 Update
Jesse Lee Soffer’s latest update inches him towards the actor’s much-anticipated return as Jay Halstead in the ongoing Chicago PD season 11.
Elsewhere, Voight’s Intelligence can also use Halstead’s help in cracking one of their most peculiar cases of recent years. The death of Noah paves the way for Classic Voight’s return in Chicago PD season 11, which makes him more prone to once again crossing the line in the name of justice. Halstead being there, albeit temporarily, to keep him in check and assist in solving the gruesome murder can allow Intelligence to move forward.
Chicago PD
season 11 airs every Wednesday, 10pm ET on NBC.
