There are several rumors and leaks about Genshin Impact 4.1 as the new update approaches. The upcoming patch will follow the large Version 4.0, which introduced the first areas of the region of Fontaine and initiated the third year of content and main Archon Quests. The popular action RPG by HoYoverse receives updates every six weeks and in the future Version 4.1, the game will likely see its content in Fontaine expanded, with even more story quests to follow and possibly even a few new areas to explore in the Nation of Justice, both above ground and underwater.
This article contains mild spoilers about the events that transpired in Genshin Impact 4.0.
There have been several leaks about Version 4.1 so far, and these also include details about the upcoming playable characters, which were previously teased by the developer, as well as some events. Players can also expect a new world boss to face in Fontaine, likely dropping the necessary items to Ascend the new Fontaine characters in Genshin Impact 4.1. As leaks and rumors are either subject to change ahead of the content’s release or simply incorrect, they should be taken with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, the upcoming patch for Genshin Impact does look promising based on the unofficial information so far.
5 New 5-Star Characters, Visions, & Weapon Types
The new Fontaine characters that are expected to be released during Version 4.1 are Neuvillette and Wriothesley. Both of them have already been somewhat confirmed by HoYoverse, but leaks give more insight into the heroes themselves. Both are, allegedly, 5-star heroes. In fact, the upcoming is not expected to have a 4-star hero, though that information will only be confirmed during the Genshin Impact 4.1 livestream. A leak shared by BleaksUniverse on Twitter suggests that Wriothesley will be the new 5-star in Phase 1, while Neuvillette will only make his debut as a playable character in Phase 2, though this remains to be confirmed.
Wriothesley is confirmed to possess a Cryo Vision, while Neuvillette has Hydro powers, though teases from HoYoverse itself suggest that they do not come from a Vision, but possibly innate abilities. Both characters are rumored to be Catalyst users in Genshin Impact 4.1. If this is true, Wriothesley will become the first Cryo Catalyst character in the game, which may allow him to apply Cryo to opponents with his Normal Attacks, without needing to use an Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst. According to a leaked video by Mero, which was shared by BleaksUniverse, Wriothesley fights with his fists, and his Catalyst is mostly hidden.
4 New Fontaine Areas
In addition to the playable characters, there will also be new areas to explore in Fontaine with Genshin Impact 4.1. As shown in a map leaked by Primordial and then shared by BleaksUniverse on Twitter, two new areas will be added to the Nation of Justice. They are both located north of the Court of Fontaine. The western area seems mostly underwater and is called Lefaye. To the east is the Fontaine Research Institute of Kinetic Energy Engineering. For reference, the second area is where a few cubes are floating in the sky – these can be seen from a distance from the already available portions of the map.
In addition to the two clearly visible areas in Fontaine’s leaked map, the Genshin Impact 4.1 leaks suggest that the Nation of Justice will finally introduce the Fortress of Meropide. This location was previously mentioned in the game as Fontaine’s underground prison. This is also where Wriothesley reigns as a warden. A video leaked by Stepleaker was shared by BleaksUniverse on Twitter, showing exploration within the area that is expected to arrive in the next patch. The Fortress of Meropide seems to be a dark and gritty place. It may have an important connection to the upcoming story quests, as Childe was recently imprisoned.
3 New World Boss In Fontaine
Somewhere in Fontaine’s new regions, players will also be able to encounter a new world boss, called Chasm Seahorse. This creature will be featured on the events page of the game once Genshin Impact 4.1 arrives. According to the event’s description in a leak by Primordial, which was shared by BleaksUniverse on Twitter, the Chasm Seahorse is the “great usurper of Fontaine’s Fontemer Aberrants” and it “dwells in a cavern in the depths.” This may suggest that it can be found in a cave that is accessed by an underwater portion, much like the Emperor Of Fire And Iron, which was introduced in Version 4.0.
The Chasm Seahorse’s leaked design has purple electricity circling around its head and horn, suggesting that it may manipulate Electro energy. It seems to be a quadrupedal seahorse of sorts with several Fontemer Aberrant elements in its design. As a world boss, this creature will likely drop materials needed in the Ascension of certain characters. As the new characters coming out in Genshin Impact 4.1 are Neuvillette and Wriothesley, it is possible that both of them will use the materials from the Chasm Seahorse in order to Ascend through the level thresholds that impede them from reaching level 80 immediately.
2 Character Banner Reruns
While the banner highlights in Version 4.1 will likely be Neuvillette and Wriothesley, they are not the only 5-star heroes that will be featured. As is common during any Genshin Impact update, there will also be a few reruns during the patch. According to the same leak shared by BleaksUniverse about the new characters, the rerunning characters are Venti and Hu Tao. Venti should be featured in Phase 1 banners along with Wriothesley, while Hu Tao is expected to have her drop rate increased in Phase 2, along with Neuvillette. The rerun characters and their order in the update’s phases have yet to be confirmed.
If the leaks about the character reruns in Genshin Impact 4.1 are true, however, this may be exciting news for players. Venti is a great Anemo support character, capable of crowd control that can substantially improve the damage spread used by main DPS and sub-DPS characters. He is also pretty good for exploration, as he can create wind currents to glide on. Hu Tao, on the other hand, is the best Pyro DPS in the game so far, and has a great gameplay kit to grind bosses. She thrives on HP loss to boost her powers and building her is fairly easy, making her a great option to pull for.
1 New & Free 4-Star Weapon
According to a Genshin Impact 4.1 leak shared by BleaksUniverse, the game will receive a new 4-star Catalyst called Ballad of the Boundless Blue, and this will be acquired for free during the flagship event in the upcoming version. This weapon has a focus on Energy Recharge and boosts the power of both Normal and Charged Attacks. According to the rumors surrounding Neuvillette’s kit, this may be a great F2P option for him. This weapon may also fit characters like a sub-DPS Nahida or even Wanderer, depending on how he is built.
So far, it is unknown exactly what event will grant Ballad of the Boundless Blue as a reward. Nevertheless, a completely free and exclusive 4-star Catalyst is a great prize to obtain, especially considering the sheer amount of Catalyst users in the game that rely on Energy Recharge and Normal/Charged Attacks. The several Genshin Impact 4.1 leaks point toward an update full of content and positive additions.
