Bones and All is one of the most offbeat romance movies on Prime Video. What makes it so unique is that it is a cannibalistic love story. Based on the novel by Camille DeAngelis, the movie features Maren as a teenage girl living with her father. He has protected her throughout her life when he realizes she has cannibalistic tendencies. After she turns 18, he abandons his family when he realizes she never shows remorse for her actions and leaves her to her own devices. This is when she meets another cannibal.
Timothée Chalamet plays the cannibal she falls in love with, and they take a road trip where they attempt to curb their hunger, but a happy ending is not in store for this couple. As expected based on its subject matter, the movie didn’t do well at the box office despite its source material’s success. However, it was a critical darling, picking up nominations at the Independent Spirit Awards.
9 My Fault (2023)

My Fault is a romantic drama about a young woman who moves into the mansion of her mother’s new boyfriend, only to find her life turned upside down. The Spanish-language thriller has Noah meeting Nick, the arrogant and brash son of her mom’s new boyfriend. While the two don’t hit it off quickly, she soon learns that Nick has a private life that involves adrenaline-fueled adventures and is involved with a troubled group that puts them both in danger.
The movie is a bit risqué, as the two are not step-siblings, but since their parents are dating, it is something that neither parent supports. This adds drama to the thrills of the dangerous life of Nick affecting Noah. It also sets up what is supposed to be a trilogy, with each movie based on stories in the series by author Mercedes Ron.
8 The Wedding Planner (2001)
Starring Jennifer Lopez & Matthew McConaughey
In 2001, Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey were two of the biggest rom-com stars of the era and The Wedding Planner brought them together in Adam Shankman’s (A Walk to Remember, Hairspray) directorial debut. The movie features Lopez as Mary, a wedding planner in San Francisco who is saved from death by a pediatrician named Steve (McConaughey). The two go on a date, but when she learns that Steve is already engaged to a woman who hired her to plan her wedding, it creates tension.
There is a lot of wrinkles in this romantic comedy, including a man who believes he is engaged to Mary because her father wants her to marry him, and the idea that Steve might be realizing he loves Mary instead of his fiance. Compared to movies like My Best Friend’s Wedding, the movie succeeds thanks to the likability of McConaughey and Lopez and is mostly a light and breezy rom-com on Prime Video.
7 Notting Hill (1999)

Notting Hill is a 1999 romantic comedy that was released around the time that Julia Roberts was still at the top of the food chain for romantic comedies and Hugh Grant was a top star in the genre as well. In the movie, Grant plays William, a bookstore owner who meets a famous Hollywood actress named Anna Scott (Roberts), and the two fall in love. The problems in the movie arise when William, a normal average man struggles to survive in a relationship with a famous woman who has paparazzi following her.
Notting Hill picked up great reviews, with most of the praise going to the two lead actors and the great script. The movie was, at the time, the highest-grossing British movie of all time (via BBC News). It also won the Audience Award for Most Popular Film at the 2000 BAFTAs and received three Golden Globe nominations, although it didn’t win any.

About Last Night is a remake of a 1980s romantic comedy of the same name. While the original film starred a predominantly white cast, with Demi Moore and Rob Lowe in the lead, the remake changes it to a predominantly Black cast. However, it tells the same story. Two couples attempt to test their relationships to see if it is real and soon learn more about not only their partners but themselves by the end.
The film picked up mostly positive reviews after its release. While it did star Kevin Hart, he was mostly restrained in this movie, although his comedy was still on target as was Regina Hall’s. The movie also had a great soundtrack, with songs by John Legend, James Brown, and more.

The Prime Video exclusive follows Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), the son of the current U.S. president, and Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine) of Britain as they begin a secret romance.
The politics of their relationship force them to keep things under wraps, but that proves much easier said than done. When their roles threaten to tear them apart, Alex and Henry must choose between people’s expectations and each other. Despite all the high-stakes drama, Red, White & Royal Blue is a breezy and fun romance.

The pair embark on a whirlwind romance that will sweep viewers up with it.

3 Chemical Hearts (2020)
Starring Lili Reinhart & Austin Abrams
Those looking for more of Lili Reinhart after Riverdale‘s series finale should check out Chemical Hearts on Prime Video — though no one should go into this particular romance movie looking for a cookie-cutter happy ending. The film sees Reinhart starring opposite Austin Abrams. The two play Grace Town and Henry Page, and their teenage characters fall head over heels for one another.
Unfortunately, like most high school romances, things don’t play out as expected. Chemical Hearts showcases stellar performances from both its leads, along with several scenes that will leave viewers misty-eyed before the movie is through.
2 Ticket To Paradise (2022)
Starring George Clooney & Julia Roberts
Those searching for a lighthearted romance movie on Prime Video should look no further than 2022’s Ticket to Paradise, which combines an A+ cast and a stunning setting to stellar effect. Starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts — and yes, that duo is enough reason to check this out — the film follows two divorced parents as they travel to Bali to stop their daughter from making a huge mistake in the name of love.
Naturally, this stirs up all kinds of feelings between the two characters, delivering a second-chance romance that will leave even the most hard-hearted viewer in their feelings by Ticket to Paradise‘s ending.
1 Somebody I Used To Know (2023)
Starring Alison Brie & Jay Ellis
Somebody I Used to Know
- Release Date
- February 10, 2023
- Director
- Dave Franco
- Cast
- Alison Brie , Jay Ellis , Kiersey Clemons , Julie Hagerty , Haley Joel Osment , Amy Sedaris , Danny Pudi
A movie that’s a bit heavier than the standard rom-com, 2023’s Somebody I Used to Know is still worth the watch, if only for Alison Brie’s and Jay Ellis’ performances. They play Ally and Sean, two exes who have seemingly moved on from one another — though that’s quickly called into question when Ally returns to her hometown and they reunite.
The fact that Sean is engaged complicates matters, raising all kinds of difficult questions for Ally. These don’t lead where viewers might expect, with Somebody I Used to Know turning some of the genre’s most problematic tropes on their heads in favor of a more modern and surprising conclusion.
