Netflix recently announced that its popular, long-running legal drama ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ will be coming to an end with its next season, the fifth. So you can imagine it might be in need of a new courtroom drama.

Which goes some way to explaining why Deadline reports that it has begun development on a TV adaptation of 1979 Norman Jewison movie ‘…And Justice for All,’ which starred Al Pacino.

    ...And Justice for All

“Once in a while someone fights back.”

    Release Date: Oct 19, 1979

Run Time: 1 hr 59 min

    Budget: $6,000,000

Jeremy Miller and Dan Cohn, who have some legal TV experience with ‘Ally McBeal’ and ‘Boston Public,’ are aboard to create and write the new series.

When a judge is charged with rape, Arthur Kirkland (Pacino) is forced to defend him. Kirkland has had problems with the judge in the past, including one incident when the judge wrongly sentenced his client Jeff McCullaugh because of a technicality. Kirkland faces a moral and legal dilemma.

The film was a box office success, grossing $33.3 million in North America on a $4 million budget, and landed two Oscar nominations, for Lead Actor (Pacino) and Original Screenplay (Valerie Curtin and Barry Levinson).

It’s also known for one of the most memorable lines in movie history when Pacino’s Kirkland shouts in court after the judge had declared his outburst to be out of order: “You’re out of order! You’re out of order! The whole trial is out of order! They are out of order!”

As for the show’s synopsis? It’s described as a gritty look at an idealistic attorney’s flawed life as he struggles to fight a corrupted legal system until he finally snaps.

When will the ‘…And Justice for All’ series be on Netflix?

With the show at an early stage Netflix has yet to make any statement as to when the series might premiere. So stay tuned to learn of any casting or other developments.
