Randy Edelman Brings Two Intimate Nights of Solo Piano and Story to the Triad Theatre, October 2 and 3

The Golden Globe–nominated composer of The Last of the Mohicans returns to the Upper West Side for two evenings of solo piano, voice and storytelling, arriving one week after the release of his new album Green Park and ahead of his third Carnegie Hall appearance on December 19.

NEW YORK, NY — Wednesday, September 23, 2026 — Randy Edelman, the composer, songwriter and performer whose music stretches from the battlefield grandeur of Gettysburg to the pop standard “A Weekend in New England,” will take the stage of the Triad Theatre, 158 West 72nd Street, on Friday, October 2 and Saturday, October 3, 2026. Both performances begin at 9:30 PM.

Edelman performs these evenings entirely alone. There is no band, no orchestra and no backing musicians of any kind: only a piano, his voice, and a lifetime of songs together with the stories behind them. The Triad, built in 1984 and the original home of Forbidden Broadway and Forever Plaid, is precisely the kind of room where that approach becomes something rare. In a space this intimate, every chord and every confidence carries to the last seat, and audiences hear a body of work that has filled movie theaters around the world delivered at the scale of a conversation.

The career behind those stories is remarkable in its range. Born in Paterson, New Jersey, Edelman studied at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and played piano in Broadway pit orchestras before recording a series of solo albums through the 1970s. His songs were recorded by Barry Manilow, The Carpenters, Olivia Newton-John and Patti LaBelle. In Los Angeles he turned to the screen, writing the theme for MacGyver and composing scores for The Last of the Mohicans, which brought him a Golden Globe nomination, as well as Gettysburg, Dragonheart, The Mask, Kindergarten Cop, My Cousin Vinny, Ghostbusters II and Billy Madison, a catalog wide enough to hold Civil War epics and Adam Sandler comedies in the same hand.

Few songs trace that journey more clearly than “A Weekend in New England.” Edelman first recorded it himself on his 1975 album Farewell Fairbanks, reshaped it at the request of Clive Davis, and watched it become a Top 10 hit for Barry Manilow in January 1977. With Davis’ passing this June, the song now carries an added and tender weight, a reminder of the people who helped Edelman’s music find its way into the world.

The Triad engagement follows the September 25 release of Green Park on Cherry Red Records, a ten-song collection inspired by Edelman’s lifelong relationship with London. Recorded in Los Angeles and partly mixed at Abbey Road Studios, the album includes the title song along with “After All the Madness,” “Watching and Wishing” and “12 Steps (Serenity Prayer),” and stands among the most personal and reflective releases of his career.

The two October nights continue an extraordinary 2026. Edelman performed in England in June at the Esher Theatre, the Concorde Club in Eastleigh and The Crazy Coq in London, then returned to New York for a reunion concert with Tony Orlando at the Bellmore Theatre on July 24 and a one-night performance at the historic Stonewall Inn on July 25. His stage musical Short Cut is in development, and the year culminates on Saturday, December 19, when “Randy Edelman: American Original” brings him back to Carnegie Hall for the third time in his career.

Tickets and further information for both Triad Theatre performances are available at triadnyc.com.
