QVC Host Toni Brattin Reacts to Viral Slip of Tongue

Toni Brattin knows she blew it during a recent QVC broadcast, but the wig entrepreneur is taking her not-safe-for-work gaffe in stride.

In case you missed it, Brattin was presenting wings on QVC this week when she accidentally said “blowj**” instead of “blowout.”

Brattin then froze with her back to the camera, before slumping to the studio floor in embarrassment. QVC co-host Teri Conn gamely tried to keep the sales patter going, but neither she nor a model on set could contain their laughter.

In a follow-up interview with TMZ, Brattin explained everything that was going through her head at that moment.

“When we’re doing a show … your mind is going 50 directions,” she said. “You’re thinking of your models, you’re thinking of the mannequin heads going through the colors, you’re thinking of the next positioning to get all the information out to the customers that they’re wanting, right? So your brain is really kind of multi-functioning, and you’re kind of in autopilot when you’re talking because you’ve said this so many times.”

So when Brattin was stunned to hear sexual slang come out of her mouth. “It was one of those moments, and of course, you can’t grab those words back. They’re out there,” she said. “I tried to real quick correct it and say the correct terminology — ‘a blowout at your salon’ — but by then, obviously, everyone caught it. I was hearing snickering and then when you’re not supposed to laugh, it just makes it that much more funny.”

She said everyone at QVC has been “so kind,” telling her that they appreciate her and hope she’s not too mortified.

Brattin also talked about the embarrassing mix-up in a CBS Mornings interview. “All I could do was freeze,” she said. “As soon as the words came out, I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, just get the camera off of me.’ You know, we all make mistakes from time to time. This one, after 30 years, just happens to be my biggest blooper ever. My husband, he was in the break room, in the green room. … When he came out, he says to Terri and I, he said, ‘Toni, there’s a bar of soap waiting for you in your dressing room.’”

And Brattin caught Jimmy Fallon’s imitation of her on The Tonight Show. “Jimmy, you were hilarious,” she said in her TMZ interview. “I happened to save one of those wigs just for Jimmy, and I would love to see what this wig would look like on Jimmy. So, Jimmy, you just tell me when your birthday is, and I’ll hand-deliver this, and we’ll see how cute you look in it.”

Fallon’s birthday is on September 19, but he might be getting an early present: Brattin indicated on Instagram she’ll be a guest of the late-night show on Monday, August 10.
