Filmmaker and creative force Micky Angelo Petrillo is heading into an impressive fall festival season, with his film “Call Me Micky” making its way through a diverse lineup of respected film festivals throughout September, October and November.
The festival journey begins September 10–13 at the Newark International Film Festival (NIFF), followed closely by the Susquehanna LGBTQ Film Festival, taking place September 11–13. Petrillo’s work will also be represented at the Fire Island Transgender Film Festival September 11–12, bringing the film before an audience celebrating transgender stories, filmmakers and perspectives.
The momentum continues September 18–20 with Reel Pride’s 37th Annual LGBTQ Film Festival, adding another important stop to the film’s growing festival presence.
In October, the film heads to the Black Bear Film Festival, taking place October 9–11, before continuing to the Teaneck International Film Festival November 5–12.
For Petrillo, the series of festival appearances represents far more than dates on a calendar. Each screening provides an opportunity for the film to reach a new audience, generate conversation and connect with communities through the power of independent filmmaking.
With six festival appearances spanning three months, Micky Angelo Petrillo enters the fall with growing momentum and an expanding platform for his work. From Newark and Fire Island to Reel Pride, Black Bear and Teaneck, the festival run marks an exciting new chapter for Petrillo and his film, with more still to come.
