    • Lionsgate has a new ‘Leprechaun’ movie in the works.
    • ‘Saw’ regulars Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan are writing the script.
    • And ‘Saw’ producer Oren Koules is backing the effort.

Hide your pots of gold! Lionsgate is looking to revisit the world of ‘Leprechaun’ for a new horror movie spun off from the franchise that launched way back in the 1990s (more on that below).

Deadline reports that the studio is putting together a team comprised of people who have previously worked on the ‘Saw’ movies, including writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan and producer Oren Koules.

At this point, there are zero plot details, but hopefully the new team has some fresh ideas for the diminutive terror.

A cult horror-comedy franchise revolving around a murderous, wisecracking beastie who will kill anyone who messes with his pot of gold, ‘Leprechaun’ spans eight films released between 1993 and 2018.

Warwick Davis starred in six of those movies as the vengeful titular figure and trivia alert: Jennifer Aniston co-starred in the first, in one of her earliest career roles.

Here’s what producer Koules had to say on the new development…

“After producing all the ‘Saw’ films, and 23wonderful years at Lionsgate, I’m thrilled to be working again with the Lionsgate team, Patrick and Marcus, and my son, Miles, on a terrifying new way into the rich world of ‘Leprechaun.’ ”
