There are some major motion pictures that receive huge celebrations for their 25th anniversary. David Spade’s 2001 mullet-com ‘Joe Dirt’ is having a more muted nod, but fans will be happy that more Dirt is in development.
Deadline reports that Fox TV has a new animated sequel series in the works to follow both the original and 2015’s sequel ‘Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser.’

Spade will be back to voice his sweet-natured, enthusiastic janitor character, now at a later stage in life (see more below). He’s also an executive producer alongside Fred Wolf, who co-wrote the film with him.

It’s now 25 years later, and Joe Dirt (Spade) keeps on keepin’ on. He’s still in love with Brandy, his skull still hasn’t un-fused with the mullet, and most of all, he’s still got his eternal optimism.
And he needs it – just because he’s married with three teenage daughters doesn’t mean his problems are over. The messes are bigger, and Joe’s mop and bucket just won’t cut it.
Where else can we see David Spade?
Perhaps the biggest news of late to feature Spade is the announcement that a third ‘Grown Ups’ movie from Adam Sandler and some recurring buddies/co-stars is on the way via Netflix, with the image above showing the main cast reunited (with some new additions) as production kicks off.
