There are many personality types displayed on Welcome to Plathville, and Olivia Plath is seen as the most level-headed one on the show.
Fans have applauded Olivia Plath’s maturity during hard times on Welcome to Plathville, and fans are now calling her the most level-headed cast member on the show. Olivia has been through a lot on Plathville, as she was never accepted into her husband’s family. Her relationship with mother-in-law Kim Plath was so toxic that Kim never let her around Ethan Plath’s younger siblings because she felt that Olivia was a bad influence.
Olivia and Ethan have had severe marriage struggles on Welcome to Plathville. They were newlyweds in season 1 and still appeared to be in the honeymoon phase, as they were constantly happy around each other. Their relationship grew more strained in season 2, as Olivia had dreams of traveling all over the world and living in a bigger city. Meanwhile, Ethan was happy with their life in rural Georgia and was not interested in moving. Ethan said that Olivia had changed a lot since they had gotten married, and the pair was on the brink of divorce in Welcome to Plathville season 3.
Olivia even went so far as to move out of their home temporarily and stay with a friend when things got bad between them. Welcome to Plathville fans were split, as some felt that Olivia and Ethan were doomed for divorce, while others were holding out hope that they would stay together. The pair decided to move to Tampa, Florida with Olivia’s younger brother and Ethan’s younger sister. Because Ethan was raised in such a strict household where he did not get exposed to the outside world much, he is still naïve and childlike at times. Why do I feel that this season should be her story?!” Others felt that Olivia was too hard on Ethan about his passion for cars, with r/miss_night_owl commenting, “What does Olivia not get about the fact that Ethan’s mental health has a lot to do with working on cars.” Some Welcome to Plathville fans have accused Olivia of being similar to matriarch Kim Plath in that the two are both controlling.
From Welcome to Plathville season 4, fans could see how Olivia went out of her way to be there for Moriah. She said she brought her coffee every morning and was always open to talk, as Moriah was going through a hard breakup with Max Kallschmidt. While Ethan tried pulling pranks on Moriah to lighten the mood (which obviously backfired), Olivia was always there to reassure her. Welcome to Plathville fans know Olivia is mature for her age, as she is surrounded by her carefree husband and siblings, leading fans to dub her the only voice of reason on the show.
