Dancing With The Stars season 31 contestant and platinum recording artist Jordin Sparks might have been eliminated from the show on Halloween Night, but she is looking at the bright side as she exits the competition. After their tango to “Oogie Boogie’s Song” from The Nightmare Before Christmas and their participation in the group dance, Jordin and her partner Brandon were second to last on the leaderboard in eighth place. They then found themselves in the bottom two with fellow competitors Heidi D’Amelio and Artem Chigvintsev. Judges Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli saved Jordin and Brandon, but Carrie Ann Inaba voted to save Heidi and Artem, along with Len Goodman. As head judge, Len’s vote counts twice, so Jordin and Brandon were sent home.
Although Jordin is sad to be leaving DWTS, in an interview with Page Six, she shared that she is looking on the bright side of her elimination. The American Idol season 6 winner said, “I’m actually very happy. The judges have been amazing to me all season, and I’ve grown so much on this journey. I am sad to go home, but I’m really happy to sleep in tomorrow and to get a massage, to get some physical therapy and to spend time with my son. There’s lots of silver linings.” Jordin’s 4-year-old son DJ has watched his mom perform on DWTS from the audience along with his dad and Jordin’s husband of five years, Dana Isaiah. Jordin went on to say that the competition “gets tougher as the weeks go by and everybody is good … so, you know, it’s tough.” She said that during the elimination, she was watching the judges, and “they really were grappling with who they wanted to save. So I’m happy I made it a difficult decision for them.” Judge Derek had an especially difficult time choosing between Jordin and Heidi.
Jordin Sparks Made An Exciting Announcement Following Her DWTS Exit
Jordin shared that she feels that her DWTS journey has “really kind of opened me up in a way. I’m still the same person that I was but I feel new, I feel limitless almost, like the energy has kind of shifted.” She then declared, “I’m about to step into a really amazing new chapter,” as she announced her new music the day after her DWTS elimination. Although she admitted that she did not plan to make the announcement the day after she exited the reality competition show, she said that she is “very, very excited” about it. In an Instagram post, Jordin revealed that she is releasing a new single titled, “Stop This Feeling,” on Nov. 11. She captioned the post, “I can’t wait for you to groove to this!”
Jordin’s grew so much as a dancer during her time on DWTS. She went from earning 6s and 7s from the judges during her week one cha cha to four 9s for her last tango. She entertained in many ways, including when she started her Disney+ Night dance by singing the beginning of “Remember Me” from Coco to her son in the audience. Jordin was always good-natured and hard-working, pushing herself to new heights every week alongside her partner, Brandon.
Although Jordin has been eliminated from DWTS, she is already moving on to her next project, new music to delight her fans. Now they can dance along with her to her new song, “Stop This Feeling.” Whether she is singing on stage, performing on Broadway, or starring on television or in films, she is a wonderful entertainer. Jordin’s journey on DWTS was beautiful and will be remembered for years to come.
