Playing herself was easy. Playing Tony Montana and Elvira Hancock in the same film is what has Hollywood talking.
Award-winning international actress Despina Mirou is generating major excitement following her extraordinary work in the upcoming film Scarface Resurrection, a bold new project inspired by one of the most iconic films in cinematic history.

The actress recently completed filming in New York City alongside Roberta Pacino, sister of legendary actor Al Pacino, original Scarface stars Steven Bauer and the late Ángel Salazar, celebrated journalist Michael Musto, and a talented ensemble cast assembled by director Eric Spade Rivas.
But it is Mirou’s remarkable triple performance that has become one of the film’s biggest stories.
In Scarface Resurrection, Mirou portrays herself while also taking on the daunting challenge of recreating two of cinema’s most recognizable characters—Tony Montana and Elvira Hancock, originally immortalized by Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer.

The role demanded a complete physical and emotional transformation.
To portray Elvira, Mirou intentionally lost nearly 20 pounds and carefully studied Michelle Pfeiffer’s expressions, posture, and elegance. For Tony Montana, she immersed herself in the character’s larger-than-life personality, attitude, and unmistakable presence.
Perhaps even more impressive, Mirou personally created both transformations herself.
“It took me about seven minutes to become Michelle Pfeiffer and forty minutes to become Tony Montana,” she explained.

Crew members were reportedly amazed by the speed and accuracy of her character changes, while director Eric Spade Rivas frequently encouraged Mirou to improvise scenes, allowing her creativity to elevate key moments throughout the production.
Her contributions became so valuable that additional dialogue and character moments were incorporated into the film as production progressed.
The movie was filmed throughout New York City, with scenes shot across Brooklyn and Manhattan, including Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, historic theaters, rooftop locations, churches, and several iconic city landmarks.

Whether walking through Manhattan as Tony Montana or embodying Elvira’s sophisticated glamour, Mirou attracted attention everywhere she went.
But the cameras stopped rolling only temporarily.
After filming each day, Mirou would often head directly to some of New York’s busiest comedy venues and perform live stand-up while remaining completely in character.
Audiences at the Broadway Comedy Club, New York Comedy Club, Phoenix Bar & Grill, and The Producers Club were treated to something rarely seen—a dramatic actress stepping onto a comedy stage as Tony Montana one night and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Elvira the next.

The performances quickly became a sensation.
Fans, comedians, and industry insiders packed the clubs to witness the transformations firsthand, with many astonished that the same performer could disappear so completely into two legendary characters.
One memorable encounter occurred when Mirou crossed paths with actor Seth Rogen while dressed as Tony Montana. The actor reportedly stopped, recognized the transformation, and posed for photos before Mirou continued on to her comedy performance.
Acclaimed photographer Rob Klein documented many of the actress’s appearances, capturing her on film sets, New York streets, and comedy club stages as both Tony Montana and Elvira Hancock.

Despite the obvious fun surrounding the performances, Mirou approached the roles with tremendous respect.
Her portrayals were never intended as simple impressions. Instead, she sought to honor two of the most beloved performances in film history while bringing her own artistry and interpretation to each role.
That balance between tribute and originality has earned praise from cast members, audiences, and industry observers alike.

What makes the accomplishment even more remarkable is the pace at which it all happened. Some filming days included more than a dozen scenes, costume changes, makeup transformations, travel between locations, and late-night comedy appearances.
When asked if she ever became exhausted, Mirou offered a simple answer:
“I’m not in New York on vacation. I’m here to work.”
That relentless commitment appears to be paying off.
Even before the film’s release, conversations have begun about the significance of her performance and the unique challenge of portraying both Tony Montana and Elvira Hancock within the same production.
For an actress already recognized internationally for her versatility, Scarface Resurrection may prove to be the project that elevates her career to an entirely new level.

As anticipation grows, one thing has become increasingly clear: Despina Mirou has delivered a performance unlike anything audiences expected—and New York was fortunate enough to witness it first.
