Days of Our Lives Spoilers for The Week of 12-29-25 Suggest 2025 Will End With Kristen’s Best (But Most Heartbreaking) Story

Days of Our Lives Spoilers for The Week of 12-29-25 Suggest 2025 Will End With Kristen’s Best (But Most Heartbreaking) Story

Days of Our Lives moved its Christmas celebration to December 26 and now it seems it’s about to ignore New Year’s Eve.

Instead, Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 12-29-25 promise a heartbreaking story for Kristen, while the only mention of New Year’s Eve is that Rachel and Sophia get visitors at Bayview.

There’s still Leo and Javi’s wedding — which was supposed to take place as the year ended, but instead will air on January 2, though it’s likely it’ll be interrupted by a certain unwanted guest.

It’s About Time Kristen Got a More Serious Story

Kristen is a mixed bag for me.

A lot of her stories are unrealistic, ridiculous nonsense. I absolutely hate when Kristen is in selfish villain mode, especially when she uses magic masks or other sci-fi devices to cause trouble.

She’s long had untapped potential, though, because of her fervent desire that Rachel not grow up to be like her, though the writers screwed that up by making Rachel Blake just as bad as Kristen at her worst, completely undermining the idea of Rachel being named after a woman who was far more like what Kristen dreamed of her daughter becoming.

Peter’s decision to try to kill his entire family should help open Kristen’s eyes and bring us back to that inner conflict… if it’s done correctly.

Kristen came so close to connecting the dots after she had to gravely injure her brother to stop him from doing all that, and realized that Rachel’s behavior was not far off from Peter’s, and I loved that Brady and Rachel both talked her out of any ridiculous ideas about trying to erase the truth.

However, Kristen might not have the bandwidth to face whatever fallout there is from Rachel’s decision to tell the world the truth about the night EJ was shot.

Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 12-29-25 pit Kristen against EJ as the DiMeras grapple with Peter’s medical condition.

According to the spoiler video, EJ thinks they should unplug life support so that Peter will die “before he can do any more damage to this family.”

Kristen is unlikely to accept that idea, which will lead to high drama — and it really is a strong story for her even though it is a depressing way to end the year.

Kristen Is the Only DiMera to Ever Have a Connection With Peter… And She Might Have Killed Him

One of the reasons I haven’t enjoyed Kristen, despite being a huge fan of how Stacy Haiduk plays the role, is that she’s often been written as cold-blooded, calculating, and lacking regard for human life.

She’s done things like stabbed Victor, used her magic mask to make Brady think she was Nicole so they could have sex under false pretenses, and used Rachel as a weapon against Brady in the past, all of which put her solidly in the category of people I couldn’t stand on my screen.

But this Peter story humanizes her in so many ways.

Peter is Kristen’s biological brother, and the entire reason he kidnapped and planned to kill all of the DiMeras is that he felt invisible, rejected, and that nobody even remembered he existed unless they needed something.

Kristen was able to gain Peter’s trust by pretending to be on his side because she knew him better than anyone, and ever since she was forced to hit him with a bone (we won’t even talk about how hitting him in the back of the head somehow caused the bone to become impaled in his chest), she has struggled with complicated emotions.

Guilt, for one, because she had to trick and attack the brother she loves in order to save everyone else.

Fear that Rachel could become like him, though she hasn’t fully admitted that.

Should Kristen agree to take Peter off life support?

Stacy Haiduk will do more Emmy-worthy work as this storyline progresses, especially if Kristen has to stand up for Peter against her entire family while also trying to be the role model she has never really been for her daughter.

While it would be depressing to end the year this way, maybe breaking Kristen down like this will allow a newer, more sympathetic version of her to arise, and she will embrace her heritage as the adopted daughter of the Phoenix in a different way… or at least, be a villain we can love to hate instead of one who is purely repulsive.

Meanwhile, We Have a Wedding To Look Forward To… Or Do We?

Although Javi and Leo are supposed to get married on December 31, Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 12-29-25 say that it won’t happen until after the New Year.

There is likely the usual hesitation right before a wedding — nothing ever goes smoothly in Salem, after all.

Gabi certainly won’t be in the mood for a wedding, considering that Rafe tells her this week that Stefan is supposedly dead.

Rafe has nothing but Vivian’s word for it, which is less than trustworthy, but Gabi will be heartbroken nevertheless.

But that’s not the biggest problem.

Javi has had doubts for a while about Leo being a reporter, and they may bleed into the wedding preparations.

Worse, Javi likely isn’t convinced that Leo is over Dmitri, something which Gwen seems to be doing her best to implant in everyone’s mind… and worse, Dmitri will return soon.

Actor Peter Porte has confirmed that Dmitri returns on January 2 — the same day that Leo and Javi’s wedding is supposed to begin.

I hope he doesn’t actually ruin this wedding. Leo is finally in a stable relationship (and tolerable as a character!), so I have less than zero interest in Leo and Dmitri Round 2.

Plus, is it really too much to ask that the first big wedding of 2026 not end in tears and someone being left at the altar?

There Is Plenty Of Action, But Why Isn’t Anyone Celebrating New Year’s?

New Year’s Eve used to be a big deal on Days of Our Lives.

There were lavish parties and friends and family ringing in the New Year together. Half the time it ended in tragedy (Emma Donovan’s murder in the 1980s, Daniel’s death in a drunk driving accident in 2016), but at least the show acknowledged the holiday!

It annoys me that Christmas will last almost until New Year’s Eve this year and that there are very few characters celebrating.

    (Peacock/Screenshot)

This is the same problem as Days of Our Lives had during Christmas this year — more drama than holiday spirit, and the traditional Christmas episode didn’t air until December 26.

And during the last few days of 2025, we have particularly bizarre spoilers:

    • Kate teaming up with Xander (aka the guy who almost killed Philip)
    • Marlena finding comfort with Roman (leave him with Kate, please)
    • Johnny and Chanel on the outs AGAIN over Chanel’s new pregnancy (why is this necessary?)
Rachel is shocked to see Sophia on Days of Our Lives during the week of 12-01-25Rachel is shocked to see Sophia on Days of Our Lives during the week of 12-01-25
    (Peacock/Screenshot)

Rachel and Sophia are the only ones who will explicitly celebrate New Year’s Eve since they get visitors that day.

This is only acceptable if one of those visitors is Kristen, and she sees through Sophia’s act — we don’t need to end the year with more of Sophia manipulating Rachel.
