The cast of Coyote Ugly is reuniting.
Stars of the 2001 film and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are set to host a screening and take part in a Q&A at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica on Feb. 26. The reunion, which comes amid the film’s 25th anniversary, is set to support those affected by the LA Fires.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Global Empowerment Mission in its efforts to support those affected by the devastating LA Fires. Tickets and more details are available online for the 35mm screening. It was not specified who from the cast is confirmed to attend.
The 2001 film starred Piper Perabo, Tyra Banks, Maria Bello, Bridget Moynahan, Izabella Miko, Melanie Lynskey, John Goodman, Adam Garcia and featured music and an appearance by LeAnne Rimes. The David McNally-helmed film, based on the real Coyote Ugly Saloon chain, centers on Perabo’s Violet, an aspiring singer who gets a job as a barmaid at Coyote Ugly. It is there where she learns to gain confidence and get out of her shell while serving drinks and performing for patrons.
One of the film’s stars, Banks shared that her house was one of those destroyed in the fires that ignited earlier in January in L.A.
While appearing on the Australian morning show Sunrise, the model said she learned that she lost her home, which she shares with her partner, while they were in Australia.
“We were at a friend’s house here and we were celebrating just having fun. I kept checking my phone, not for my house, but for friends and family, making sure they were evacuating and everything,” Banks said. “And then I asked my partner, I was like, ‘I’m seeing something here, what do you think?’ and he [nodded].
“I just pulled it together and just didn’t say anything to my friends and just stayed in that moment, and then we went home and we cried and we had our moment,” she added.
The Coyote Ugly Saloon, founded by Liliana Lovell, is known as a famous bar with 13 locations across the country. The original Coyote Ugly Saloon opened on 1st Avenue in New York on Jan. 27, 1993. The preeminent drinking establishment also caught national attention in early 1997 when a story called “The Muse of the Coyote Ugly Saloon” written by former Coyote bartender Elizabeth Gilbert was published by GQ magazine. Coyote Ugly also has bars in the United Kingdom and Japan and is expanding internationally.
