Check out the epic orchestral parts being recorded for Muse’s new album ‘The Wow! Signal’ at Abbey Road

Muse have shared the orchestral parts recorded live at Abbey Road Studios from their forthcoming new album ‘The Wow! Signal’.

Their 10th studio LP is set to land this Friday (June 26) and has already been previewed with the songs Cryogen, ‘Be With You’ and recent singles ‘Nightshift Superstar’ and ‘Hexagons’.

Per a press release, the new album takes its title from one of the most compelling interstellar mysteries of the last century – “a powerful 72-second radio burst detected in 1977 originating from the constellation Sagittarius with a bandwidth and intensity that suggested a possible extraterrestrial source”.

“The astronomer who discovered the anomaly famously circled the now-iconic sequence ‘6EQUJ5’ and wrote ‘WOW!’ on the printout beside it – giving the signal its name and cementing its place in scientific and pop-culture lore,” it adds.

Now, frontman Matt Bellamy has shared footage of their orchestral recordings, which feature on the tracks, from the legendary Studio Two, where The Beatles recorded most of their material.

The clips feature dramatic strings by the London Metropolitan Orchestra and powerful vocals by the Crouch End Festival Chorus, who famously backed Oasis at their 2008 BBC Electric Proms show in London. Check them out below.

Writing on Instagram he posted: “Special thanks to @londonmetropolitanorchestra and @crouchendfestivalchorus1984 for their stellar work helping The Wow! Signal by @museband come together. Recorded at the legendary Studio 2 (the Beatles room) at @abbeyroadstudios.”

Elsewhere, Muse recently announced a UK and European arena tour for later this year.

Following on from their North American tour with Bloc Party and more this summer, the forthcoming UK leg will kick off with two shows at Manchester’s Co-op Live on November 12 and 13.

Matt Bellamy and co. are then scheduled to play two huge concerts at The O2 in London on November 15 and 16.

From there, Muse will head to Europe for further arena dates in Berlin, Milan, Düsseldorf, Paris, Amsterdam, Montpellier and Zurich throughout the rest of the month and into early December.

Find all the dates here and any remaining tickets are available here (UK) and here (Europe).
