Apple TV has been creating highly praised television lately. And they’re notorious for greenlighting shows that other streamers would axe.
So where is Loot Season 4?
Streaming services are notorious for canceling shows after one or two seasons — often when people thought the show was just getting good. But Apple TV usually stands apart, letting its shows breathe and find their footing.
Loot is perhaps slightly underrated compared to big hits like Ted Lasso, but that doesn’t mean the show deserves to continue sitting in limbo.
Season 3 aired nearly a year ago, and fans still haven’t heard an official announcement about the fate of Season 4.
Heartwarming Comedy
Loot is delightful and has already found its footing. It sits in a curious place between earnest and overtly cheesy. We deserve more of it.
The show is full of heartwarming scenes, humor, and a sizable sprinkle of intentional cringe that somehow balances out the splashy, colorful world the characters live in.
The show explores how awkward and frustrating it can be to find connection in our busy, corporatized, and screen-filled lives.
But the characters, despite all their flaws, are putting in the effort. And nobody is doing that more than Maya Rudolph’s character, Molly.
The best kinds of comedy shows are the ones where the characters try to be kind, even if they don’t always succeed. And Loot excels at this concept.
Each character has flaws that balance out their best attributes.
Sofia is a perfect example — she’s hell-bent on making a positive change in the world, but that’s led her to become a workaholic with little personal life to speak of.
But all of the vibrant characters in Loot are learning, growing, and changing. None of them are static. (Except maybe Ainsley, but maybe she’ll have a better arc in Season 4?)

Social Commentary
Loot isn’t just an amusing comedy show.
Thanks to the premise, there are real chances to make social commentary. And the writers do, even if it’s almost always cheeky or blink-and-you-miss-it.
With divorcée Molly becoming one of the richest women in the world, the writers are set up to poke fun at the billionaire class — and they do.
For a comedy, they have a wealth of opportunities to punch up, and that’s what happens.
Molly’s old social circle is filled with rude acquaintances who clearly lack self-awareness and empathy. Plus, there’s apparently a not-so-secret cabal of evil rich people who wear cult costumes.
Looking at the real world, that almost doesn’t feel like a far-fetched concept.
The Cliffhanger!
The biggest reason Loot needs a Season 4 is that the show didn’t play it safe by tying things off with a bow.
Loot Season 3 left us on a major cliffhanger: Molly received not one, but two marriage proposals. Simultaneously!
Her on-again-off-again boyfriend and co-worker, Arthur, jumped in after Molly’s boy toy, Maro, got down on one knee. And that’s the last scene of the show.
Molly is clearly stricken with emotion & confusion, and then the audience is met with rolling credits.
It would be cruel of Apple TV not to give us Season 4 while the plot remains so unfinished.
Does Molly run away with any answers? Does she decide to marry a random man she’s never met so nobody can ever propose again?
Does Luciana offer herself to Maro since she already has a wedding dress on?
We simply must know!
Apple TV, please, renew Loot for Season 4. Or, at the very least, take pity on us and make an official announcement about whether or not there will be more.
Maya Rudolph and company shine in this over-the-top comedy, and I would love to see that world explored further.
