Avalon Emerson Reworks Moby for New Song “E After Next”: Listen

“E After Next,” the Moby rework that has become a staple of Avalon Emerson’s DJ sets, has been formally released via Dead Oceans. Billed as a collaboration between the two, it is part of Emerson’s dancefloor-oriented single series Perpetual Emotion Machine, which follows her 2023 dream-pop album Avalon Emerson & The Charm.

As Emerson said upon announcing the series, “These songs were created for my DJ sets. Whether they’re entirely original, edits to recontextualize old favorites, instrumental, or feature me singing, they are all part of my perpetual emotion machine. And the machine steams on.”

Moby’s original, “Next Is the E,” appeared on his 1992 self-titled album; it was renamed “I Feel It” in the United Kingdom to soften any implied reference to ecstasy.
