Anyma’s Coachella set cancelled due to “strong wind conditions”

Anyma’s Coachella set cancelled due to “strong wind conditions”

One of the final performances set for the opening night of Coachella was scrapped because of severe weather conditions.

The American-Italian DJ and producer Anyma was set to follow Sabrina Carpenter‘s headline set with a performance on the festival’s main stage at midnight (April 11). However, 15 minutes after he was due to start, the festival notified attendees of a “schedule update”.

“Due to strong wind conditions affecting Anyma’s stage build, he is unable to perform,” a statement read.

It was posted online and sent as a notification to attendees on the Coachella app, and further added that “Coachella & Anyma have made this decision together with your safety as the priority. Further updates to come.”

With winds reaching up to 35mph in the valley over the course of the weekend, it remains unclear if any further changes will need to be made to the line-up for audience safety.

Similarly, it’s not yet known whether Anyma’s performance will be rescheduled for another time at the festival, which runs through Sunday night (April 12), and repeats next weekend.

NME has reached out to Anyma’s representative for comment.

Last year, we sat down with Anyma to discuss his Coachella debut.

“It’s basically a whole new world that I’m in the process of building right now,” he explained at the time. “You can expect some new characters, new songs and different perspectives on the storytelling. I want to move forward. I want to carry on with the core of what I do, but also push things a little further.”

“The whole project is meant to [evoke] emotions from people and create community that maybe, at a later date, helps push things forward without me,” he added. “The more exposure, the more people resonate with it, the better.”
