Lindsey Buckingham hints at reunion with Stevie Nicks after reconciliation following feud

Lindsey Buckingham has seemingly hinted at a reunion with Stevie Nicks.

Last year, the legendary duo reissued their 1973 album ‘Buckingham Nicks’, making it publicly available for the first time since its original release.

Upon sharing the record, Nicks revealed that she and Buckingham are now back on talking terms, saying, “Lindsey and I started talking about [the album] last night. This whole thing seems really like yesterday to us.”

Now, Buckingham may have dropped hints of a potential reunion. In a video shared to Instagram, the musician spoke about what he’s looking forward to in 2026 – including a solo album and the upcoming Fleetwood Mac documentary.

Then, he says the following: “But I think on a more general level, just the energy of what Buckingham Nicks did to sort of create a resurgence of connection between Stevie and myself, I think on a larger scale that seems to be something that’s in the air.

“And what that translates to specifically, I wouldn’t want to speculate yet, but I believe with all my heart it will translate to something good and something wonderful and something needed and something extremely appropriate.”

Buckingham and Nicks, then romantic partners, joined Fleetwood Mac on New Year’s Eve 1974 after they’d performed in a duo called Buckingham Nicks. Both were mainstays in the line-up until 1987, when Buckingham left, before Nicks’ departure in 1990. They both rejoined in 1997, before Buckingham was fired in 2018.

After Buckingham’s firing in 2018, however, he told People that it was “all Stevie’s doing,” and that she “basically gave the band an ultimatum that either I had to go or she would go.”

For her part, Nicks denied the accusations in a statement, saying: “I did not demand he be fired. Frankly, I fired myself. I proactively removed myself from the band and a situation I considered to be toxic to my well-being. I was done. If the band went on without me, so be it.”

Prior to the ‘Buckingham Nicks’ re-issue and subsequent confirmation that the duo are back on talking terms, Mick Fleetwood publicly expressed his eagerness to see the two reunite. Their supposed reconnection now is all the more surprising, given that in 2024, Nicks said to Rolling Stone that the last time she had seen Lindsey was at Christine McVie’s celebration of life, and that she could only talk to him “for about three minutes“.

“I dealt with Lindsey for as long as I could,” she added. “You could not say that I did not give him more than 300 million chances.”

Nicks has also continually shot down the idea of the band getting back together, and has said that without the late Christine McVie, “there is no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together.”

However, Buckingham said in February 2024 that he’d rejoin the band “in a heartbeat” should anything happen.
