All I want for Christmas is foor the captives to finally get out of the crypt, and Days of Our Lives is ready to deliver that.
I’m not thrilled that Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 12-22-25 include Julie postponing the annual Christmas celebration until December 26, but at least Chad will be at home with his kids for it.
It may be too much to ask, but can we also end this stupid custody battle story while we’re at it?

While The Annual Christmas Party Is Delayed, There Will Be SOME Christmas Cheer
Paulina spends part of the holiday with Marlena, commiserating about being a widow at Christmas, which will be poignant, if a little depressing.
Additionally, Marlena will visit Rachel as a Christmas surprise.
Supposedly, Brady and Tate were going to help Rachel decorate for Christmas — that was one of the reasons that Brady wanted Tate to stay home, so that they could make the holiday nice for her in Bayview.
It’ll cause high drama if Brady and Marlena run into each other in Bayview, but it’s equally likely that the two won’t cross paths.

Tate WILL be staying home, though.
He’s supposed to give Holly bad news, which can only mean that he’s not going to Paris after all.
It must be nice to be able to spend money on a last-minute trans-Atlantic flight and then just as suddenly decide to stay home.

I’m more interested in whether Marlena will catch Sophia in Rachel’s room or otherwise realize something’s not right with the supposedly catatonic girl.
Every time someone visits Rachel, I get hopeful that someone will see through Sophia’s act, but it hasn’t happened yet, and probably won’t for a while, as the story is just getting started.

It’ll be annoying if Sophia can fool Marlena, though. If that happens, maybe Marlena really should retire, since a world-renowned psychiatrist should be able to tell when a formerly catatonic patient is malingering.
It’ll Be Harder To Enjoy Christmas With Five People Trapped In The Crypt
No one knows that Peter is among them, of course, but the other four all have loved ones in Salem.
That’s probably why Julie suggests postponing Christmas. With Chad missing and Jennifer afraid it’s too dangerous for the kids in Salem, nobody is going to be in the mood to celebrate.
Even Lani and Eli visiting won’t cheer her up enough, despite Eli being one of her favorite people.

Eli probably is going to be the one who finds all the missing people, bringing this part of the story to a merciful end.
Yes! The Crypt Captives Get Out This Week
Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 12-22-25 are heavily focused on the crypt story, and with good reason: if I’m reading them right, everyone is rescued on Christmas Eve.
Should Days of Our Lives postpone the annual Christmas party or should the show stick to tradition?

Talk about a Christmas miracle, although Christmas Day sounds like it’s taken up with the aftermath: Brady confronting Kristen, Johnny and EJ sharing a moment, and Abe and Paulina worrying about Theo.
There have been rumors that Theo is seriously ill or injured as a result of his ordeal, which doesn’t make much sense considering Kristen has been battling an infection with a high fever for the past few days.

Maybe in Salem, infections are contagious. I wouldn’t put it past them.
Anyway, the best news of all — besides this story ending — is that the person behind it will be revealed VERY soon.
A Days of Our Lives spoiler for Monday, December 22, promises that this mystery will come to an end that day, so all we have to do is tune in after the weekend!
There Are Still A Few Possibilities For Who That Might Be
While I dislike this story intensely, the question of who is responsible is mildly intriguing, and there are several possibilities.
My money is still on Peter. He showed up in the crypt after an absence of more than 20 years, and Chad and Theo didn’t even recognize him — plus Kristen acknowledged earlier that everyone forgets that he exists.

That seems like a perfect setup for an unexpected (to the characters, anyway) villain. Plus, he said he couldn’t visit Kristen in jail so taking her out of there gave him the ability to reunite with her.
That seems like a silly reason to kidnap everyone, and there’s probably more to it than that, but Peter has often been duplicitous, and his sudden re-emergence seems weird.
He also seems way too level-headed, much more so than how I vaguely remember him… and anyway, Tony confronts him in the spoiler video.
If not Peter, the other possibility is Dmitri, but he isn’t due to return to Salem until January 2, so that doesn’t quite fit.
Of course, Days of Our Lives could really fool us and have the kidnapper be a Kiriakis or someone else that has nothing to do with the DiMeras, but somehow I doubt it.

The Horton Christmas WILL Eventually Take Place
Friday’s spoilers promise that Julie and Jeremy will set up the house for the Christmas party after all.
It seems silly for this to take place AFTER Christmas, but at least the Horton Christmas isn’t totally ruined!
I also love that Jeremy is helping Julie with this. She’s the one Horton elder who believes in him 100%, and he needs that.
