Flogging Molly reveal Dave King was in a coma for two weeks after suffering brain haemorrhage

Flogging Molly have shared an update on the health of frontman Dave King, who they reveal had slipped into a two-week coma due to a brain haemorrhage – see what the band had to say below.

Early last month (February 6), the Celtic-punk outfit announced the cancellation of all 2025 performance plans as King was “battling a very serious health condition”. Now, King’s wife and Flogging Molly bandmate Bridget Regan has shared more information regarding his condition.

In a lengthy post, Regan began on a light note, suggesting that they are “safely out of the woods” before confirming that he “suffered a brain haemorrhage and underwent two subsequent surgeries to save his life.”

As a result of the haemorrhage, Dave King “then spent two weeks in a coma, followed by varying stages of treatment and recovery. On February 28th he underwent yet another surgery and I now feel confident we are on the other side of this.”

Regan then shared some good news: “He is now entering into the next phase of his recovery and wants nothing more than to play music again. The road ahead is uncertain but we, as ever, will roll with the punches and hope to see you all in the near future.”

The post ends with a poignant message after she thanked their doctors, nurses, hospital staff, family and friends: “Please look after each other and tell your people you love them… life can change in an instant”.

Flogging Molly had been set to hit the road in the US tour on February 24. This would have led up to their three-day ‘Shamrock Rebellion’ Patrick’s Day weekend celebration in Las Vegas, Tempe and Los Angeles.

King, who was born in Dublin, formed Flogging Molly in LA back in 1994. He had previously performed in the hard rock band Fastway with “Fast” Eddie Clarke (Motörhead) and Pete Way (UFO).

Flogging Molly’s seventh and latest studio album, ‘Anthem’, was released in 2022. The record was produced by the late Steve Albini, who had worked with the band early on in their career.
