Bill Burr and Shane Gillis are joining forces for a benefit comedy show that will support relief efforts for those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.
The comedians shared the news via their Instagram accounts on Tuesday. Produced by Live Nation, the event will take place on Monday, Jan. 27 at the Wiltern Theater. Tickets went on sale via Live Nation’s website on Tuesday.
All proceeds from the benefit will go to the Wildfire Relief Program, a GoFundMe organization that is “currently supporting relief and recovery efforts related to the wildfires burning in L.A. County.” The program set a goal to raise $8 million for those affected by the blazes and reached a total of a little over $5 million on Tuesday.
Burr spoke about the devastating wildfires during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last Tuesday where he critiqued the internet’s reaction to the natural disaster.
“I feel lucky, and I think everybody did a great job, unlike the internet,” he quipped. “All of these fire experts, ‘Why don’t you just fly a helicopter into the ocean,’ I don’t know, cause there was 100 knot winds. You wanna do that?” Burr, too, argued that CNN and Fox News haven’t brought “up the insurance companies” who recently did not renew home insurance policies ahead of the fires.
The announcement of Burr and Gillis’ comedy show comes after several other benefit events have been organized, including the FireAid concert where a slew of stars will perform in support of wildfire victims at the Intuit Dome and The Forum. Billie Eilish and Finneas, Earth, Wind & Fire, Gracie Abrams, Green Day, Jelly Roll, Joni Mitchell, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lil Baby, Pink, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rod Stewart, Sting, Stephen Stills, Stevie Nicks, Tate McRae, Dave Matthews and John Mayer will all perform at the concert, in addition to recently announced performers Olivia Rodrigo and No Doubt, where Gwen Stefani, Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont and Adrian Young will all reunite.
