Michael B. Jordan Is Excited to Film ‘I Am Legend 2’ With Will Smith

Michael B. Jordan is ready for filming of his I Am Legend sequel with Will Smith to get underway.

The Black Panther star shared an update on the movie’s status while recently speaking with People magazine about his partnership with Propel Fitness Water on the “Propel Your City Project.” He noted that I Am Legend 2 is “something that is in the works.”

“We’re still working on the script and getting that up to par,” he continued. “It doesn’t have a release date or anything like that. I’m not sure exactly where we’re going to be filming that one, but I’m really excited to get in front of the camera with him [Smith].”

The actor said the Oscar winner is “somebody that I’ve looked up to for a really long time, [so] to be able to work with Will is something I’m really looking forward to. I’m really excited.”

The sequel to Smith’s post-apocalyptic 2007 movie was initially announced in March 2022. The original film followed his character, scientist Robert Neville, who is left as one of the world’s lone survivors when a disease turns most humans into zombie-like creatures. It was adapted from author Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel of the same name.

Smith previously teased details about I Am Legend 2 in December 2023. He noted that while his character dies in the version of the first film seen in the theaters, the DVD featured an alternate ending in the end credits, revealing that his character actually survived.

“So we are going with the mythology of the DVD version where my character lived,” he explained at the time.

The original film’s co-writer, Akiva Goldsman, also returned to pen the sequel
