Worldwide rights to the adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s latest, Atmosphere, have been claimed by Black Bear Pictures. The distribution news dropped late last week. Black Bear, by the way, is the production company behind the Train Dreams adaptation…and Wicker. If you’re just catching up, here’s everything we know about the Atmosphere adaptation so far:
- Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (the duo behind Captain Marvel) will write and direct the feature film.
- It’s in development at LAIKA Live Action (the studio is also developing the adaptations of Exit Party by Emily St. John Mandel and Audition by Katie Kitamura).
- Jenkins Reid is acting as a producer.
- Atmosphere follows Joan Goodwin who falls in love with her colleague, Vanessa Ford, when they’re selected for a 1984 NASA space mission.
